On February 22, 2019, Walton County mailed a second notice to beachfront property owners who Walton County had not effectively noticed. This was a followup to Walton County’s January mailing to over 4,600 registered letters to owners of 1,194 parcels putting them on notice that Walton County seeks declaratory judgment affirming the existence of recreational customary use.
As a beachfront property owner, if you do not challenge this lawsuit the sandy beach portion of your property would be subject to public use and you cannot decide who may or may not use this portion of your property. This effectively opens a portion of YOUR private beachfront property to PUBLIC USE.
